Pocket Provider

Frequently asked questions

What is Pocket Provider?

Pocket Provider is an AI-powered health companion. You can ask health questions, get lab results and health data explained in plain language, and find the right type of provider to see next.

Is Pocket Provider a doctor?

No. Pocket Provider is not a doctor, does not diagnose conditions and does not replace professional medical care. It provides general health information and helps you prepare for conversations with licensed providers.

What do I do in a medical emergency?

Call 911 (or your local emergency number) or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not use Pocket Provider for emergencies.

Is Pocket Provider HIPAA compliant?

Pocket Provider is a consumer app, and HIPAA generally applies to healthcare providers, health plans and their business associates rather than consumer apps. We still treat your health information as sensitive and describe exactly what we collect and how we protect it in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your health data.

How does Pocket Provider help me find a provider?

Based on what you are dealing with, it suggests which type of provider to see (for example a cardiologist or endocrinologist), explains what to expect, and gives you questions to bring to your appointment. Our provider directory is being rolled out.

Do providers pay to be listed?

Provider listings will be clearly labeled. Our recommendations about what kind of provider to see are based on your needs, not on payment.

Is it free?

You can start for free. Paid plans with higher usage limits are available in the app.

Who can see my health information?

Your conversations and uploaded health data are tied to your account. We do not share them with providers unless you choose to. See our Privacy Policy for details.
